Tunable, time-locked ultrafast pulse pairs are crucial for time-resolved spectroscopy. We demonstrate tunable (305–570 fs; 1.6–2.9 nm) pulse generation from a continuous beam via optical Kerr switching in a 10 cm single-mode fibre. Our system is also capable of 2- and 4-pulse train generation. Results highlight a simple, low-cost device capable of configurable ultrafast pulse generation, with further application in ultrafast time-gating.
